Welcome,
Thank you for visiting the website!
About:
My name is Bob Lopez, CEO and founder of Support our Troops Ribbons Inc. I am a Vietnam era vet. I served with the Headquarter & Headquarter's Company 1st Battalion, 77th Armor 5th Infantry Division (Mech), Fort Carson, November 1965 - November 1967.
It is a fact our troops returned home from Vietnam while doing their job that we as a country asked them to do and were treated horrible upon their return home. There were no welcome home parades or ceremonies on post to reunite the soldiers to their families. They just came home. No fanfare.
I always thought, if there was any way to turn things around to show support to our troops, I would do whatever it would take to change our country's attitude towards our troops.
In August of 1990, I found a way to serve our troops and to show them that someone cares about them. At the beginning of the first Gulf War I developed the ribbon concept. It was a small and inconspicuous way to show support for the troops and their families. It has grown into a movement that has been accepted by all I meet. The ribbons are worn by many. They are in-fact all over the world. Families send the ribbons to their loved ones who are serving overseas in care packages. For example, I give them away when I attend funerals of the fallen service men and women here in Colorado and at the Memorial services for those who have passed and were stationed at Fort Carson. I will give away 300 to 1,000 ribbons in those instances. I want the families to know there are people who care about them and care about the ones who have paid the ultimate price.
May God continue to Bless them and their families. I do this for them.
